Owen pretty much looked like this the entire time! I tried, but when a little boy actually enjoys the taste of dirt, and you only have so many wipes, whats a mom to do?
We arrived Sat. afternoon in time to set up camp and make lunch. On the way up we got the camp table I have wanted for a while now yeah! It makes a world of difference having a convenient working space!
On Sunday we had some breakfast over the fire. Hashbrown, ground turkey, and egg casserole. I gotta say my camping cooking skill are improving for sure! But then again, everything has always tasted better in the mountains.
Then we had a short little devotional. With so much around us to distract the little ones, it had to be short and sweet. But it was sweet. Moments like that are always ones to treasure. Then we went on a little hike on a paved trail at the edge of the Mogollon Rim. BE-U-TI-FUL!!! I admit I still don't see much of the so called "desert beauty" of AZ, but this, well you can't argue with the beauty of this!

We were glad to have our first aid kit with us. While out exploring the great outdoors and gathering as many creepy, crawly things the boys could find. They found an old fallen log full of the bees that plagued our camp since we got there. Poor Isaac got the brunt of it with two stings. He was pretty brave though!
At some early point I realized that I had accidentally packed two left shoes. Oops! Thankfully Dave packed an extra pair of running shoes. I hate when I do dumb things like that! But if a couple of bee stings and wrong shoes are ever the worse to happen then yeah! On Monday we wanted to have some fun before facing traffic so we headed down to the lake. Bear Canyon Lake was a short hike down hill from our camp site. We brought lunch, and random entertainment. Dave and I swam, Seth jumped in too, but it was too cold for him so he high tailed it out and that was all she wrote for his swimming in the lake. They caught tiny fish, and crawdads to their hearts content. Seth was willing to carry those big bowls full of water back up the mountain so he could take them home. We some how convinced him they should stay here with their families.
Back up the hill, packed up camp and headed for home. Needless to say the boys crashed out in minutes, and it almost lasted through the nightmarish traffic! But thats when I say thank heavens for portable DVD players!!!
It was so fun and a great family bonding time! Next step. . . trailer. :)

What a fun time! I love the messy face picture and the last one with them all sleeping. Nice!
Your boo letters are too cute. You'll have to show us what you do with them. I need some Halloween inspiration!
Great photos. Family camping trips are the best.
