Fun In The Sun

Our trip to San Diego after Christmas was such a blast! Here are some highlights for our trip!We met up with my parents (Grandma & Grandad). We exchanged gifts and generally hung out! Thank you for letting us crash your beach vacation mom & dad!!! Seth was excited to see the ocean, and more excited to see Grandma & Grandad! The balcony in the background over looks the ocean! It was very soothing to sleep to, (it ended up that Seth and I slept out on the couch bed most nights).

Beach time was awesome. Seth could have played in the sand everyday and been just fine! He and Dave built a dam to block the in coming tide since Seth wasn't such a big fan of the ocean. It was fun to see that it lasted a few days. It was a bit chilly, but that didn't stop us! Isaac, by the way, mainly wanted to sample the sand as often as I turned my back to him. Yuck!

We went to the Zoo. The highlight was seeing two hippos accually moving and swimming in their habitat. Most animals we saw are either hiding or sleeping. Fun time!!!

I take it back this thing was awake, and eating, but what the heck is it???
At Sea World the boys and I killed time in the gift shop. Seth thought he might actually end up with this ridiculously over priced hat. Ha! Sorry kid mom's too cheap for this kind of souvenir!
Dave and I took turns waiting with the kids while the other went on the roller coaster. Dave is the one in white-second row back. We've decided that we both love roller coaster rides, with almost a passion, and that was never something we knew about each other before! I guess you really do learn something new everyday!
As you can tell we did get soaked, several times that day. Mainly because when we got into the arena for a show it was packed and the only available seats were in the soak zone. This picture was taken after the dolphin and whale show. Yeah- front row and we got dumped on!!! Dave and I were worse since we tried to shield the boys from the down pour.
We also visited the Midway Aircraft Carrier. Wow amazing ! This was a massive ship and it is the longest-serving aircraft carrier in U.S. Navy history--a 47 year odyssey that spanned the end of WWII and the liberation of Kuwait in 1991! We are in the cockpit of one of the planes that was carried aboard the Midway.
The seagulls outside the restaurant were pretty enthusiastic for our left overs. They were fun to watch dip and dive and fight over the food we threw out.
Sleeping in is always a nice treat! Since I was out on the hide-a-bed Dave had the room with Isaac. I think one morning he woke Dave up before 7:30am. Pretty rough! Meanwhile I was getting up at 6am or so! Next vacation we trade for sure!
But aren't they sweet while they sleep! Not really! If you only knew that the blue pillow is Seth's and the white pillow was supposed to be mine! Needless to say I may have gotten my quota of snuggles this trip! (Maybe).

All in all it was a fabulous trip! and a much needed get away! Although we'd never chose to live in CA it sure was fun to visit!

It was good to see your parents in that picture! I haven't seen them in I don't know how long. It looks like you guys had a lot of fun. We are about due for something like that.

Fun!! I love SeaWorld and the San Diego Zoo. That zoo would be a great place to take kids (if the animals are doing something).
I just have to say you look great! You are gorgeous and I love seeing pictures of you!
I wish we could come visit you in AZ, especially if you have a pool.

That looks so fun...The first thing I thought when I saw the hat picture was..."Wow! Julie went all out on souveniers" Thanks for clarifying and removing my guilt for being stingy. I am glad you guys got out. I am starting to think when we can get in a visit to either meet you in St. George or the Grand Canyon. This fall might be the best time because we pretty much have a vacation at least every month or every other month starting in March and ending in August. So exciting...by the way I am down about 7 lbs and my size 10's are hanging off my butt. YEA!!!!! Hopefully I can meet my 15 lb goal by my florida trip in April. Except I am learning it can be pricey to loose weight because none of my clothes are going to be fitting me soon, and I don't like wearing baggy things, so...looks like I get to go shopping. I miss you just about everyday...especially since the sun is out...I'd love to go for a walk right now. But I'll just blog and go make Josh's birthday cake.

What a fun trip! I miss the sun and warm weather. I was so sad the other day when we went by your old house and Emma asked if she could go play. We also want to come down to St. George to meet you guys, but it sounds like the Mendenhalls are too busy right now-you know us Watsons- we never go on vacation so we are pretty much set to go whenever. Andy is actually crazy with work and school so we will have to wait until he has a break because his school is on the weekends.
