The day after Owen's birthday was Thanksgiving. I am sad to say I didn't take one picture. We hosted it this year so I was a little busy, there was about 34 people. The food was wonderful, since we ate at about 3 pm we had tables in and out side, the weather was beautiful!
Thanksgiving is so much about the food so often it is easy for me to remember to take a moment and count my blessings. I have so many I won't list them all here, but among them are my family (the one I came from and the one I have with my husband both!), good friends, good health for myself and my family, and this free nation we live in. Of coarse foremost I am grateful for my membership in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
I hope you all had as blessed of a day as I feel I had!
Isaac has so far proven to be our most naturally athletically inclined boy. So we both thought learning to ride a bike would go faster then it did the first time around.
It was! :) He picked it up so fast, Daddy only had to hold on to him for a few houses then he was off. Isaac was different also in the fact that he was motivated to be a bike rider. On Monday when Daddy wasn't around, he went out on his own and got the turning and stopping down. Then I showed him how to start on the curb, and he was off. It didn't take long for him to be an independent rider.
Great job big boy!!!
Owen was glad to graduate to bigger boy bike also. He might be up on just two wheels faster then the other 2!
I love the quiet times in front of the tree. Apparently so does Isaac.
So mom had to make some sugar cookies for a neighborhood activity.
Noah and Owen were happy to participate!
Here are the cookies, I share this because I have NEVER been able to make them turn out before, yes, I have tried several times. But I was ready to give it another try, or was forced to since I was napping when my husband accepted the assignment for me, even though I specifically did not sign up for them, and was signed up for bringing Chili. :)
Any way long story, tried to make short, I made it a matter of prayer, then was prompted by my mom to use the recipe she had given us in her cook book, and was further aided when I was prompted to leave the cookie cutter down while slipping the spatula under, hence keeping the dough in shape.
If you can't tell they turned out great, and made my whole week!
Off to the party! Here are my 3 little shepherds, they participated in a short nativity play. They were so good, you can tell they are ready to blow off some steam, or maybe that's the sugar kicking in!
We are in the long line to see Santa and Mrs. Claus.
This whole party is done at the end of a cul de sac near by. They have the fire men with truck, a train ride, Navajo taco station cooked fresh right there, chili, hot dogs, fresh lemonade, hot chocolate, cookie decoration station, pop corn, and a stage at the end of the cul de sac with performances of Christmas music going on, (all free). It's quite the ordeal. It all started as a ward party that included the whole neighborhood, then it got so big two of the surrounding HOA's took over the bulk of the cost, still put on by a member of our ward. It was a great way to kick off the Christmas season!
