Dave and Seth about to embark upon a 4+ mile hike to see some Indian Ruins and camp overnight. Dave's pack weighed 44 lbs staring out. He had several bottles of frozen water, 2 lunches, 1 dinner, & 1 breakfast, tent, 2 sleeping bags, extra clothes, two mini pillows and one mattress pad.

Just one of the many dangers along the way! :) This is a Gila Monster. They are more treacherous then a rattle snake, when they bite they clamp down and inject poison into your blood stream and it eats away at the skin too. It takes cutting off their head and prying their jaws open to get them off. Thankfully no Gila Monster incidences occurred! :)

Some of the gang, all in all there were 14 (4 adults, 10 kids ages 3-11yrs)

An inside view of the ruins

                                                                   The camp site.

All in all it was a good time with some great memories. Dave was pretty hammered though and that may have been because he ended up carrying Seth about 3.5 miles out of the 8 mile round trip. What a stud! But some soreness, sunburn and bug bites are the worst of it. Dave says he's up for another hike, just maybe not as long! :)

Way to go Dave- I don't think Andy would consider taking either of the kids on a trip like this. He considers taking Drew to fathers and sons an ordeal.
How cool is that! What a trooper! those are amazing sites! I also loved your pictures, and sorry about the birthday pie, that calls for another one for sure.
