Sat: we packed up all the kiddo's and the kiddos' crap, and headed to Utah. And at least all the crap fit inside our car this time since we recently bought a suburban.
Sun: We stopped overnight in Scipio, where we have family. It was so fun to stay the night and go to church the next day. My Aunt and Uncle are so great to let us crash with them, and make it feel like we are doing them a favor! We attended Scipio ward where Dave got a chance to serve the sacrament to some of the home bound elderly members, my Grandma being one of those. It was a neat experience for him.
The boys were spoiled with four wheeler rides and a sweet energetic dog that loved to play with them.
Thanks again!!! Can't wait to do it again!
This is the boys' Great Grandma. She helped to build this house brick by brick with her late husband, when they were first married, and raised all four of their sons in it, it is fun to visit her here and relive old memories of thanksgiving dinners, quilts, rodeos, and fun over nighters with Grandma.
After church in Scipio we headed to my parents house for the night. There was a family dinner I love to see all my brothers and nieces and nephews. One of my brothers came in late with his two oldest boys from the hunting trip they were coming home from. They were successful and per the post hunt MO they then strung up the deer in the car garage and proceeded to skin it. When I was young this would attract all sorts of neighborhood kid attention, times haven't changed much since an old neighborhood peer, who was visiting his parents, brought over his daughter now Seth's age to see it. My boys generally thought it was gross, yet couldn't take their eyes off it. Owen, weeks later, said "mom, remember when we went to Grandma and Granddad's house and there was a dead deer. We should do that again."
Noah happy to be playing with Grandma. And to be out of his car seat I am sure. He was such a trooper, I don't even remember a better baby to travel with!!!
Love snuggle time, which only lasts as long as it takes for Noah to remember what he really wants is around Granddad's neck and on his face.
I grew up with this tree, I climbed it as a young girl, then used it to get onto the roof as a teen. I racked up it's leaves I don't know how many times!
So fun to see my boys in it now. :)
Mon: up and off to my Brothers house for an overnight visit. Here the boys found a suitable cage for a couple cats. They never hurt them, they just love animals. In fact those cats had plenty of opportunities to run, but they never went where the boys couldn't catch them again. I think the feeling was mutual.
And here is where I curse my dang camera, for telling me there was no memory card in it, when there was. So no more pictures from here on out, but for memories sake, I will give the run down of our trip and hope to steal pictures from my mom! :) (hint, hint)
Tues: We let the boys run in the boy perfect back yard of my brothers for a bit, while I went out with my sis. in law for some shopping time. Then we came back in to town. We planned to meet Dave's sister and her family at a corn maze, but a crazy rain and wind storm picked up and we met at a restaurant instead. We ended up staying overnight at their house for some more visiting time.
Wed: Hit the road after breakfast back to my parents house. We got a sitter and headed out to a nice lunch, (thanks mom & dad!). That night we tried the corn maze again only left the baby with Grandma and Granddad (thanks again!). It was still cold but easier to take with bigger boys. We did the maze, (well enough of it anyway), and bounced on, climbed and slid down all there was to bounce on, climb and slide down. There was a spooky creature house the boys were not happy about us taking them into, so we bailed half way, and Dave finished it off by him self. Half way through our hay ride we saw a deer bounding out of the corn maze and the boys thought it might be escaping a hunter. We assured them it (and we) were safe here. After grabbed a hamburger and went back to my parents house for some much deserved rest.
Thurs. we gathered all our crap together and headed up to my parents cabin for an overnight stay. It was so beautiful up there. Most of the vibrant reds were gone, but the yellows were hanging in there. I love fall in the mountains! We had a yummy dinner, and breakfast. Wish the sleeping had been a bit better, but it was just fun to be up there.
Fri: We packed up said our good byes and hit the road that lead home. We ended up making the 12 hour drive (give or take an hour) home in one fail swoop, and got home at about 1 am. Thank heavens for travel DVD players, and all boys that can easily take care of business on the side of the road. I love and miss Utah and my family! But it is always nice to come home!
