Christmas Eve 2008

Last Year Dave and I started a tradition I hope will last for years to come! For Christmas Eve we invite friends and family alike over for a soup pot luck. We have bread bowls and different kinds of soup, perfect for a chilly night. After Dinner we have a little program of singing carols and reading scriptures that correspond to the story of Christs' birth while the kids in attendance act it out. It is very laid back and low key.
None of the kids were interested in keeping their costumes on for very long, this is our Mary holding baby Jesus, with the roaring fire we had that night. Cozy right! :)
Ahhh. . . our shepherds watching over baby Jesus. Or rather Big brother keeping little brother from taking off with baby Jesus, as did happen several times that night.
The whole gang. Friends from Dave's mission (minus their sleeping baby), Dave's parents, and us (minus our sleeping baby).
It was a great time, and very relaxing. Just right for the night before the mayhem that is Christmas morning! The spirit was there with us too as we sang songs and read scriptures of our Saviors birth. I am forever grateful for that event that I know was as real as my life is today!
