Rainy Holiday Adventure

Well Dave and I decided not to exchange gifts for Valentines, yet that didn't stop him from surprising me with candy, card, and coupons for future treats! What a guy! Sad to say it did stop me-- so he got "jack nothing" as he might put it but that never really occurred to him, what a sweety! Needless to say I'll be making it up! We went out for breakfast and tried to buy a stove, (long and boring story as to why we tried, not succeeded). Then after a Dr.'s apt we headed up the canyon for a one night camping adventure!

It was not our greatest experience since:
1) We got a late start and hurried up the twisting narrow road and got pretty queasy!
2) Our kids were beyond starving, (I couldn't keep Isaac form eating the charcoal left in the bottom of the fire pit!)
3) I found out too late my camera was out of batteries, (so no pictures to post) :(
4)It rained pretty much the entire time! We had a rain free camp out long enough to set up the tent, cook our hot dogs and beans over the fire, and to take it all down the next morning at 7:30am.
5) we had to pay twice the price for the camp ground since we arrived to late and left too early for the shop that sold the permits to open, we got a "citation of non compliance" by the campground host. (--Just doing his job, o-well).
6) Huge mess to clean up now that we're home.

Would I do it all again. . . Yes. I love adventures and by definition of adventure, they never turn out the way you think they will, that's what makes them fun, and thats why I will keep going on them!

Yikes, I hate the rain, unless you have a camper than I just hate the lightening. But since I have a fear of natural disasters, I hate the lightening even when I'm not camping.

How exciting! WE are in next time! I haven't been camping in forever. I will probably buy and bring everything though, bec I don't want the baby getting cold. Your are adventurous! That was so cute of Dave and Isaac baby pictures! I wish I had Dale's baby pictures. I am pretty sure they look just like Dale.

What a good sport you are, I'd be complaining the entire time if was rainy. But that would never happen b/c I don't know if I dare go camping with all boys! You are brave.
And I love surprises from husbands, especially when they are little things.
Check my blog early next week, something I found has been making me think about you EVERY DAY, so you have to see what my "reminds me of...." post says about YOU!
